Released in October 2012 in Huntington Beach, California NICOLAS TORRES – Work Hard Dream None In February of 2012 Torres spent several days filming the citizens of “The City That Never Sleeps” catching up on the Zzzz's they desperately need. Amongst the constant bombardment of clanking metal sounds, odd smells, maximum occupancy, and anti-terror advisories, the NYC subway is a cradle to it’s sleep deprived citizenry. Thematically, this piece is in keeping with much of Torres work which focuses on the daily struggles of the overworked lower class urbanite. Originally presented as a three-channel installation at the Garage Sale Project, Torres has adapted the videos into a linear fashion for our theatre viewing. WEREHAUS – Big Sur: Henry Miller & The River of Life Synopsis: Big Sur is a special place not far from our own backyard. We've recently spent some time there on a few camping trips with the goal of making a short surf film. Unfortunately, the conditions rarely aligned for us – and the one day that they finally did we were too busy surfing to film much of anything. As a result, we began to explore Henry Miller's relationship with Big Sur. This piece hopes to shed some light on his personal philosophies and how they should serve as a reminder to all of us that it's okay to slow things down and spend more time outside, floating on the river of life. Taiwan: You Can't Go Home Again Synopsis: "How far we all come. How far we all come away from ourselves. So far, so much between, you can never go home again. You can go home, it's good to go home, but you never really get all the way home again in your life. " -Thomas Wolfe ANDY VOGT – Mitre Cloud - Minor becomes monumental as objects move through a white-hot environment blurring detail and losing scale. In the haze, basic building blocks can be seen forming minute crystals of structure, floating and vibrating. Bio - Andy Vogt lives and works in San Francisco. The Shockwave series is a collage of imagery; carefully curated and aggressively edited, which highlight the best & worst “blood, fire, & death”, as the group’s credo maintains, ever captured on film. With a keen eye for camp, gore, & mania, plus a healthy dose of ad-libbed overdubs, Wizard Mountain has created a greatest hits for the VHS generation. Shockwave is just a preview, welcome to our nightmare. Welcome to the jungle, we got fun & games. LEAF – The Casablanca Archives - a series of short films depicting life as we know it.
