Interface Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new work by five recent graduates. Chosen as much for the aesthetic/conceptual quality of their work as to show a breath of contemporary practice, these artists will present works produced post-school.
Loosed into the world, with all of the debt and none of the institutional benefits (printers, studios, organized critical dialogue) of their recent experience, New New Works catches each artist at a critical juncture, taking steps toward defining a practice amidst renewed non-art commitments. Each of the artists in the show work with very different materials (sculpture, video, photography, weaving, painting to name a few) and use widely differing content in their work; the only continuities are those of this specific post school moment and those that will arise of their own accord when the works enter into the mediating space of the gallery.
