Quiet Lightning: The Greenhouse Effect
Quiet Lightning readings in the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers: fiction, poetry, performance in a mix without intros or banter. Each show is a book featuring work by a local artist. Admission comes with a book for the first 100 people. Lagunitas drafts for $3. The show is $5-10 suggested, no one refused high or low. For more info, including videos and photos from the last two years (The Greenhouse Effect is a three-show summer series: this is this year’s first, followed by Labor Day and an Oct 14 Litquake show): visit http://quietlightning.org/the-greenhouse-effect. You can also find public transportation and driving directions there. This has been an extraordinary year for Quiet Lightning. Partnerships have included Sports Basement, 826 Valencia, SomArts’ Feast of Words, Porchlight storytelling, the Studio One Reading Series, the Contemporary Jewish Museum, Beast Crawl, and The Rumpus. Each show has been a unique blend of the two. August 5th is Quiet Lightning: Return to Form. Doors open at 6:30. Show begins promptly at 7:30 and ends shortly after 9, with an intermission for smelling the flowers. The whole building!
