In collaboration with the Swiss Consulate in San Francisco, Misho Gallery will celebrate its 4th Anniversary with an exhibit featuring:
Monika Steiner
Monica's new series titled "Aether" is based on ancient philosopher's belief that Aether is a non-material fifth element - earth, water, air and fire being the other four. Invisible Aether permeates the universe and rotates in circles when the weight of the heavier water and earth elements passes by rising air and fire.
These pieces communicate in a mysterious, unobtrusive manner, speaking subtly and instinctively. What could at first glance appears monochromatic actually plays within a complex spectrum of color.
Karl Visher
Recently, Karl has been experimenting in the creation of a distinctly individual form of mixed media art. His signature style consists of a carefully chosen palette of colors, applied onto acrylic glass, and then the art piece is assembled in a characteristic three-dimensional fashion. He uses wood, aluminum, and acrylic glass. He has intentionally opted to paint on the reverse side of the transparent acrylic media. Thus, unlike traditional art where the viewer sees an image of what is painted last, his is an art form where the viewer sees what is painted first.
Misho
Inspired by Chinese calligraphy, "Abstract Ink 1&2" - Part 1, fluid movements of a Chinese ink brush is reinterpreted through Misho's lens instead of a brush. Part 2, a set of paintings inspired by one Chinese character "mouth". In June, 2013, some of these works were exhibited in Guangzhou, China. The Chinese audience gave it their "thumbs up"!
Jorge Bachman
As a photo-based, multimedia, sound artist & sculptor, Jorge will be showing his photographs for this exhibit. He has exhibited and performed in North America, Europe, Japan, and South America including appearances at the San Francisco Electronic Music Festival and projects with the MoBu Dance Group.
