This exhibition uses works from SF State’s J. Paul Leonard Library and its special collections to further the theme of art and literature. Five display cases explore artist books, turn-of-the-century paper scraps, illuminated manuscripts and LGBTQ themes in children’s books. Several of the books are among the most frequently banned by schools, bookstores and libraries. Staff and faculty from the Library and Creative Writing Department also helped create the exhibition. This event is affiliated with the SF State Fine Arts Gallery exhibition “The Illuminated Library,” on display Sept. 21 – Oct. 17. Curators: David Funk, Dena Rayess and Justine Wuebold J. Paul Leonard Library, Fourth Floor, San Francisco State University, 1600 Holloway Ave. (at 19th Ave.), San Francisco, CA 94132 Admission: Free Exhibition hours: Mondays – Fridays, 1 – 5 p.m.
