Sandra Lee Gallery presents:
Henry Jackson, A Solo Show
Exhibition Dates: October 1st-November 10th, 2013; Opening Reception: Thursday October 3rd, 5:30-7:30pm, San Francisco
Sandra Lee Gallery is proud to announce a solo exhibition featuring the art of Henry Jackson. In Jackson's works, one finds layers of discovery as one unearths forms beneath the surface. Inherent in this interpretive series are representations of the human condition, a theme which pervades the imagery. Shapes emerge and recede within the artist's framework of color, texture and outline. The outcome is a captivating montage that has materialized into existence through a breaking down of the figure. Jackson's portrayal of the human form, fractured and frayed, communicates a stirring of unsettled emotions and unresolved passions. Jackson states that to merely depict an action or gesture of a figure is not of concern; it is only when removing all that is familiar through abstraction of color, space, and shape, he is allowed to feel a sense of truth. The resulting images, reduced to remnants and deprived in their appearance; are astoundingly infused with feeling and expression. This process of breaking down form while maintaining substance is Jackson's way of reminding us of humankind's eternal endeavor to persist.
