Receptions: Friday, February6, 7 p.m.–10:00 p.m. in conjunction with Oakland Art Murmur First Fridays Examines the effect of extraordinary personal events and how they become a part of us and our lives. How these experiences whether they be good or bad are never fully put aside but but always linger just under the surface of our everyday lives. Francesca Pera’s multi layered and precisely crafted encaustic paintings are practically a metaphor for the many layers of the psyche while the content in her work draws upon experiences of a rich and complex lifetime. Rocky Angel‘s work oozes with both religious and sexual tension. Rocky doesn’t mess around with sublety or innuendo. He and his neighbors are hanging out there in all of their splendor. Carolyn Haydu draws from outdoor events which tells us of an instinctual need to help the planet and our fellow man. Her gentle installations remind us that our earth and society is her focus.
