You are the Artist, You Figure it Out
Opening Reception: Saturday, January 10th, 2009, 4pm - 6pm Baer Ridgway Exhibitions is pleased to announce a solo exhibition with Mads Lynnerup, You Are The Artist, You Figure It Out. In this exhibition, Lynnerup ambitiously assembles a wide variety of artistic media. Beginning with an installation of wheat paste posters echoing the exhibition's title, the viewer is lead into the gallery to a large scale wall painting and sculpture. Several Super Burrito Couches can be viewed along with a variety of videos, ranging in length from a few minutes to 24 hours, as well as two new series of drawings, Time is Money, Money is Time, 2008 and Drawing Cars (Looking for a New Vehicle for My Work), 2007. Lynnerup is a MFA Graduate from Columbia University, New York and completed his undergraduate studies at the San Francisco Art Institute in 2001. "In the exhibition You are the Artist, You Figure It Out, Lynnerup continues to explore and expand on early concerns addressed through imagery and exchange. Lynnerup humorously takes aim at topics such as utopian space, economic exchange, and branding, including that of conceptual art practices of the 1960s and 1970s" - Terri C. Smith, Independent Curator
