In March, HANG ART presents Ordered Distortion, a group show of new works by artist David Lippenberger. In his latest body of work, Lippenberger explores seriality and repetition. The paintings present layers of numbers and distorted rubber bands superimposed on one another, which enforces the tight grid which restrains them. Like his figurative works, these abstracts point to a subverted meaning, but instead of offering an explanation, Lippenberger's hypnotic repetitions only heighten our desire for understanding.
