Navigating FragmentsPost an Event »

Through the lens of the microscope, San Francisco artist Emily Clawson examines insect wings, and pieces together abstracted compositions based on what is discovered. The paintings are interpretations of dragonfly, bee and butterfly wings, created with translucent layers of wax and drawing. Navigating Fragments is a solo exhibition of fourteen new encaustic paintings that will be exhibited at Café Royale for the month of April. An opening reception will be held on April 2, the first Thursday of the month, from 8pm to midnight. Clawson has recently participated in exhibitions at Pacific Union College, Angwin California; Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, Illinois, and Haydon Art Center, Lincoln Nebraska. Café Royale has a strong connection with and dedication to the San Francisco, Bay Area art scene hosting musical performances, poetry readings, and monthly, visual arts exhibitions. Archived on their website are over four years of monthly artist shows. David Ball is the current curator for the exhibition space and represents the artists during their shows.
