This dramatic reading of I.B. Singer’s classic story of a village of fools combines shtetl folklore and modernist style to evoke the innovations of the Russian Jewish theater.
Presented by students from the theater department at San Francisco State University with klezmer music and sound effects, the performance is appropriate for both children and adults. This is being performed in conjunction with our exhibition: Chagall and the Artists of the Russian Jewish Theater, 1919-1949.
