The Coldest Winter I Ever Spent Was A Summer in San Francisco Crystal Liu, from the series "Give Us Our Dream," 2009, digital C print, 29 x 29 inches
It’s doubtful that Mark Twain actually uttered the famous line, but that makes it no less true. While the rest of the country swelters, residents of San Francisco don sweaters, and under-dressed visitors freeze to death. Consequently, “summer” in San Francisco has particular and peculiar connotations. In this show we present “cool” work by local, national and international artists, including Chris Ballantyne, Jim Campbell, Julie Chang, Russell Crotty, Reed Danziger, Timothy Horn, Christian Houge, Michael Light, Crystal Liu, Liliana Porter, Lordy Rodriguez, Arngunnur Yr and others. Hosfelt Gallery, San Francisco is located at 430 Clementina Street, between Howard and Folsom & 5th and 6th streets. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday 11-5:30.
