For 2 x 2 Solos, Oakland based Tamra Seal presents a new body of work that examines the visual language of California culture as it relates to the idea of surface. With an eye towards exuberant color and unique material choices that border on the alchemic, Seal's sculptures elevate familiar forms, imbuing them with otherworldly and sublime qualities. Influenced in part by surf and car cultures, luxury lifestyles, and the Hollywood film industry, the work embodies California as a sun soaked, glittery, and superficial terrain.
