6th Annual 3-Minute Film Festival
What happens when both professional and first time filmmakers pledge to spend 30 days creating 3-Minute masterpieces? Find out at the 6th Annual 3-Minute Film Festival Black Tie Gala and Film Screening, the August edition of Root Division’s monthly Second Saturday Series. In addition to creative and hilarious cinematic feats, this year’s DIY event features paintings by 2007 festival award winner Holly Coley and Three Angles: Paintings by Root Division Resident Artists Joshua Aaron, Jon Casey Clary, and Kevin E. Taylor. Stick around after the screening for the sweet beats of DJ Swayzee, the tearful audience choice awards, and the first ever 3-Minute Raffle of Fabulous Prizes. And YES, it’s really black tie…”Creative Black Tie” that is. Doors open at 7:00 with a reception for the artists. Projector rolls at 8:00. Dress sharply! Featured Filmmakers: Corinna Andrews, Charles Chadwick, Jeff Cleary, David Cuetter, Elizabeth Deters, Morgan Dodge, Claudia Escobar, Selene Foster*, Pedro Gonzalez, Richard Grove, Carla Jimenez, Gaby Jimenez, B. Love, Robert Meyers, Andrew Mills, Diane Murk, Daniel Nolan, Lauren Scime*, Laura Scott, Andrea Slattery, Camille Verboort, Watch Your Fingers Films, Nathan Wollman, and more TBA! *Root Division Resident Artist The 3-Minute Film Festival was created in 2001 by Chris Baty, our hero, who had the dream of getting people to spend 30 days embracing the spirit of uncritical invention. Chris moved on to many awesome pursuits including National Novel Writing Month (www.nanowrimo.org) and The Office of Letters and Light (www.lettersandlight.org), and left the festival behind to be randomly, somewhat annually organized for you. Why? Because we love to make films just for the sake of making films, we love to watch films and laugh, and we love YOU.
