InSideOut
Opening Reception: Wednesday, November 12, 2008, 5:30 - 7:30 PM Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce “InSideOut”, a solo exhibition for Bay Area artist Paul Gibson opening on Wednesday, November 12. Gibson explores the hidden life and energy of ordinary objects and approaches each subject with imagination and a sense of discovery. Through the study of color, texture, form, and language, Gibson underscores spatial and verbal ambiguities in each work. In doing so, Gibson reveals a story behind the subject. His work incorporates not only the realism imbedded in the image, but also allows the viewer to interpret the image any way they chose. For this exhibition, Gibson has rendered his whimsical compositions on a scale larger than they truly exist, breathing new life into everyday objects. Gibson has exhibited extensively and has work in both public and private collections. After studying architecture at Cal Poly, he earned his BFA in 1984 from Art Center College of Design. He then received a MFA from the National Academy of Design in New York. This is his fifth exhibition with Andrea Schwartz Gallery. Andrea Schwartz Gallery was established in 1982 and is located in the South of Market district of San Francisco.
