Lecture: Tino SehgalPost an Event »

The Berlin-based artist Tino Sehgal makes art without actually making objects. His conception of art ventures beyond materiality to encompass the presentation of exchanges and the transformation of thoughts. Following his instructions, people use their bodies and/or voices to create “situations” that can be observed and experienced. Sehgal’s first solo exhibition in the United States is being presented indefinitely at the CCA Wattis Institute. His work has been exhibited at London’s Tate Britain, the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. In 2005 Sehgal represented Germany at the Venice Biennale. Currently he is preparing for a solo exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, which will open in 2010 as part of the Guggenheim’s 50th anniversary celebration.
