Using SFMOMA's Candice Breitz exhibition and the 2008 conference "Takeovers and Makeovers: Artistic Appropriation, Fair Use, and Copyright in the Digital Age" at UC Berkeley as starting points, this roundtable conversation takes up appropriation in contemporary art. The discussion is preceded by an artist and curator talk with Breitz and Frieling at 6:30 p.m. Breitz presents a related artist talk at UC Berkeley on Monday, October 19 (visit berkeley.edu for details).
