Phyllis Wattis Theater
Presented in conjunction with the Asian Photography from the permanent collection this program of short films offers a rare opportunity to view experimental Japanese film and video created since 1960. Presented in conjunction with The Provoke Era: Postwar Japanese Photography, the films demonstrate the complicated atmosphere resulting from the aftermath of the atomic bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the resulting social and economic transformations following Japan’s defeat in World War II. Organized by Lisa Sutcliffe, assistant curator, photography, SFMOMA.
Museum and program admission are free.
