Lecture: Alejandro Zaera-Polo, FOA (Foreign Office Architects)Post an Event »

Alejandro Zaera-Polo’s London-based Foreign Office Architects (FOA) is recognized as one of the most creative design firms in the world. FOA has produced numerous critically acclaimed and award-winning projects, both public and private, integrating architecture, urban design, and landscape architecture. The firm brings great technical and theoretical rigor to each project, focusing on organic growth and the evolution of design “species” that hybridize uses relating to both local and global conditions. In 2002 FOA made its reputation with the Yokohama Port Terminal in Japan, an imaginative hybrid of non-Cartesian industrial infrastructure and versatile social functionality. Zaera-Polo currently occupies the Berlage Chair at the Technical University in Delft, the Netherlands. From 2000–5 he was dean of the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam.
