Lecture: Hurvin AndersonPost an Event »

Hurvin Anderson’s oil paintings meditate on both the built and natural landscape. Inspired by his own Jamaican lineage and a recent residency in Trinidad, Anderson has created a number of postcard-like scenes of the Caribbean and Britain, which softly illustrate the historical and political connection between the two, using visual perspective as a metaphor for diverse and conflicting cultural and political viewpoints. Anderson’s work has been featured at Thomas Dance Gallery and the Tate Britain, London; Anthony Meier Fine Art, San Francisco; and the Studio Museum in Harlem, New York. He holds an MA in painting from the Royal College of Art and a BA in painting from the Wimbledon School of Art.
