On Friday October 16th an exhibition featuring Steven Smith’s paintings and “wearable art” will be on display at Fabric8, 3318 22nd St in San Francisco.
Painter and fashion designer, Steven Smith exhibition titled Globetrotting Fun showcases one-of-a-kind wearable art and acrylic paintings that he created while touring the world as a professional figure skater for Disney on ice. Inspired by places such as France, Spain, Brazil, Japan, and more, this collection recreates the playfulness and free spirited nature of youth; with the goal to make viewers smile.
One of the pieces on display is “Ms. Tara,” a 36” x 48” acrylic painting on canvas. Dangling jewels encircle the elongated neck of this crowned diva that is set against a bright green backdrop. The clothing on display features highly detailed, hand stitched, and painted: hats, scarves, shirts, pants, and jeans, available for men and women. Steven’s clothing designs revive the old, as he claims to, “take new, used, vintage or just plain found clothing and breathe life into it.”
