Honeymoon in Pyongyang Honeymoon in Pyongyang
In 2008 newlyweds Kris and Noah Lang had the chance to visit Pyongyang, Democratic People's Republic of Korea on their honeymoon. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst, they were surprised every step of the way. Please join the Langs as they share photos and videos from travel around the northern part of the Korean peninsula. After the slideshow they will answer questions about this mysterious and largely unvisited country. Noah Lang is a partner in Electric Works, a contemporary art gallery in San Francisco. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in German Literature and Cultural Studies from Georgetown University. In 1987, Noah took his first trip to the East, when he walked across the border of East-West Berlin at Checkpoint Charlie. Subsequently, he made two trips behind the Iron Curtain before the wall came down in 1989. Since then he has traveled around Eastern and Central Europe, taking in the sights, mushroom hunting and comparing stories of nostalgia and bitterness of the "good old days" of socialism. Kris Lang got Noah heading east as part of a tour visiting China instigated by her circus school coach, who was raised in the Chinese acrobat system. Besides China and the DPRK, they have traveled to Japan, the UK, Germany and Czech Republic. This event is free and open to the public.
