We're super excited to be hosting our second ever youth art show, featuring works by advanced photography students from the Out of Site Youth Arts Center, this SATURDAY, March 27 from 3pm-6pm (please note the day and time change from our usual Friday night openings).
Over the last few years a small group of high school students has returned to Out of Site again and again to take their after-school black & white photography classes. Over time these students have worked to refine their technical skills as well as personal vision; exploring documentary, staged and experimental approaches to photography. Featuring work by: Michaela Creedon, Zahnen Garner, Maxx Gavrich, Jacqueline Gutierrez, and Zack Yackel. Organized by Maggie Preston.
Out of Site is a visual and performing arts center with after-school, weekend and summer programs that are free to public high school students in San Francisco. Some come looking for course credit, while others for a place to be themselves: all find artistic training, new mediums for self-expression, and a diverse and supportive community.
Purchase of works from this show support youth artists directly as well as the Out of Site Arts Center. More info about this show can be found on The Spare Room Project Website, and more info about Out of Site can be found on their website.
Also, Saturday night our good friend and great supporter of The Spare Room Project, Chelsea Rae Klein is hosting the release party of her newly published art magazine, Descry, which features work of two of your favorite SRP organizers, Gregory Bartlett and Erin McElroy. Right down the street at Queen's Nails Annex from 7-11pm. More info on the Descry website.
