The Life of the Object
Downstairs at BRX Curated by Amanda Hunt For The Life of the Object, a selection of art works have been chosen from the collection of Steven Leiber in order to examine how these objects have transitioned from their earliest presentation to their entry into the collection. From objects used in performance and film to a section of a multi-part painting, each has enjoyed an inimitable life previous to the one they currently lead-as contextualized objects in a private collection. Covering a range of mediums and art movements, these objects embody their own specific histories and invite the viewer to contemplate the diverse routes they have traveled to reach these resting places. Artists: Daniel Buren, Walter De Maria, Image Bank (Vincent Trasov & Michael Morris), Bas Jan Ader, Ray Johnson, Milan Knizak, Christian Marclay, Yoko Ono, Dieter Roth, Tom Sachs & Rirkrit Tiravanija.
