Artist Talk: Ralph Lemon By Tara Fallaux
Come hear seminal interdisciplinary performance artist Ralph Lemon talk about his work and see footage from the research and development of a new multi-media performance and installation - How Can You Stay in the House All Day and Not Go Anywhere, which will premiere at YBCA this October. Deeply influenced by Lemon’s eight-year collaboration with Walter Carter, a 103-year-old former sharecropper who has lived his entire life in Little Yazoo City, MS, his wife Edna and other members of his community, the project merges media, visual art, movement research, text, sound and Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris, in an exploration of the possibilities of intercultural collaboration, the power and unreliability of accepted history and memorial. Where: 700 Howard St., San Francisco, CA 94103 YBCA Screening Room FREE with RSVP at www.ybcafree.org
