Kala Fellowship TalkPost an Event »

Kala's Fellowship program includes a series of artists' talks by our current Fellows. Over the next several months, each of our nine artists will give a presentation of their work and discuss their current residency projects at Kala. Katy Higgins (Brooklyn, NY) works in large format color photography to document artificial landscapes that form zoo environments yet are documented devoid of animal life. Katy's work has been recently presented at Dumbo Art Under the Bridge Festival and at Chicago's Hyde Park Art Center. She will also be a resident artist this year at the Vermont Studio Center. Bassem Yousri (Cairo, Egypt and Philadelphia, PA) creates provocative videos and documentary films as components of his large-scale installations that question Egyptian history and identity. He is a recent graduate of the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. His work has been recently been presented at Drexel University and Knapp Gallery in Philadelphia in addition to a number of group exhibitions in Cairo.
