Artist-Run West Berkeley Alternative Art Space Debuts with Raw and Provocative Work by Danielle Lawrence
5 Mined Fields Studio is pleased to present Falling Toward Forever, a solo exhibition of current work by Danielle Lawrence, whose scope of expertise ranges from painting and drawing to installation.
Lawrence will be the first artist to be officially presented at the new West Berkeley alternative space with a reception on Saturday, January 26, from 7-10pm and will be on view through February 24.
Richly complex and harrowing, Lawrence's work uses both representation of the figure and abstraction to navigate the psychological residue found between childhood innocence and adulthood. The personal is the political and is used to explore cultural and social conditioning. The work speaks directly to the degeneration of traditional familial construction and of the collapse of conventional definitions of home and identity.
