Inside the Vortex: Feedback Systems, Experimentation, and Noise - An Extended Play Workshop
Video artist Andrew Benson offers a rare glimpse inside the strange network of processes from which his live video work emerges. Through a guided tour of the customized tools, hands on play, and discussion of the background and processes involved, visitors will get a deeper understanding of Andrew's tactile and organic approach to developing digital media experiences, including the techniques involved in stereographic imagery. Topics will include the artist's working process, feedback structures, control vs. unpredictability, and the creative misuse of digital processes. This workshop is part of EXTENDED PLAY, a series of new, weekly live art performances and workshops, and is planned in conjunction with, Through Sparkling Fields, Bitter and Bright, a performance by Andrew Benson and Joshua Churchill that will be performed on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Southern Exposure.
