This closing evening of the Skank Bloc Bologna Number Four L@TE series sees the launch of the ephemeral paper publication of the same name. Unique to BAM/PFA patrons, in an edition of fifty, the print version of SBB4 will include remnants from the hybrid performance, sound, spoken word, and film experiences. Contributors include Tosh Berman, members of the Cal Fencing Club, Fools in Print, Greens, Tania Ketenjian, Jennifer Locke, Eugene Robinson, Allan deSouza, Michael Hannon, William Wiley, and more. Several of the participating artists will be on hand to sign their works.
Finally, in the Jamaican tradition of “toasting,” Colvin will recite material from the Marxist political theorist Antonio Gramsci over film and video sources such as Tommy, The Harder They Come, The Beast in Space, and footage from previous SBB4 L@TE events.
At 6 p.m., a guest DJ spot will be filled by curator Chuck Mobley, a.k.a. DJ Skank, who will respond to the Italian influence in Skank Bloc Bologna! Wine and beer will be available for purchase.
On L@TE Fridays, general admission to the BAM galleries is just $5 after 5 p.m. Show your ticket for a same-day PFA screening or gallery visit and get in free. Admission is always free for BAM/PFA members and UC Berkeley students, faculty, and staff.
