San Francisco Then is a visual journey through the streets of San Francisco in the 1940’s and 1950’s as seen through the lens of San Francisco native Fred Lyon. It is an investigation of the iconic urban landscape and the people who inhabit it. Lyon’s photographs display San Francisco at its best, capturing the film noir drama of the setting while also celebrating the everyday efforts of those who kept the city humming with life.
