Matriarch Her Bones Are My Bones, mixed media on panel, 72" x 48"
Opening Reception: Wednesday, September 1, 2010, 5:30 - 7:30 PM “Abstraction allows all feelings to be felt, all visions to be seen. Abstraction has become the most articulate way for me to communicate the expansiveness and liberation found in creativity.” -– Nicole Buffett Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition for Nicole Buffett opening Wednesday, September 1, 2010. Buffett’s paintings of abstract landscapes allow the viewer to interpret the suggestive spiritual possibilities of deeper consciousness. By using a variety of organic and synthetic mediums on panel, Buffett creates abstract landscapes that act as topographical worlds, which invite the viewer into visceral and meditative experiences. This allows Buffett to map the relationship of things close and far, of things felt, and of things invisible. California based artist Nicole Buffett received her B.F.A. and M.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute and is currently residing on the Board of the SFAI. In 2001 Buffett completed an independent study program for textile design in Jaipur, India, an experience that she felt profoundly influenced her work. In 2008, Buffett was awarded the JB Blunk Residency Program in Inverness, California.
