John Belingheri John Belingheri, Preoccupied with the Blue, mixed media on canvas 58 x 58 inches
Opening Reception: Wednesday, October 6, 2010, 5:30 - 7:30 PM “My painting is an inquiry. It is essentially experiential in nature, a combination of wandering and construction of half-steps and corrections.” – John Belingheri Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition for John Belingheri opening Wednesday, October 6, 2010. Belingheri’s oil and mixed media paintings on canvas express an interrelationship of form, process, contradictions and turmoil. The question is whether the process of thoughts, marks and corrections are accidental or intentional, in which he creates an end result of mesmerizing colored patterns. Forms and clusters of color skip across the canvas in an imposed order that is playful, ironic and absurd. Belingheri's surfaces are textured and reworked, while continuously making adjustments he is encouraged by this process of randomness that occurs. John Belingheri is a Bay Area artist who has exhibited extensively in the United States and abroad. His work is included in both public and private collections throughout the world. He received his MFA and his BFA from Brigham Young University in 1981 and 1976 respectively.
