Augmented Realms
Augmented Realms October 1, Opening Reception 6-9PM October 30, Closes at 6PM Nature-based sculptures and paintings blur the edges between the definition of 2D + 3D artwork. "Augmented Realms" paintings, sculpture by Morgaina E. Moore, paintings by Michelle Stitz "Nature is unpredictable. It can be graceful and simple. It can be catastrophic. I discovered while working on the pieces for this show that the spontaneity that’s part of my creative process can give me results as unpredictable as the ones nature gives us. My spontaneity is like nature’s unpredictability. I take plaster, wood, metal--each material chosen for its individual characteristics--and then I work them, I combine them. What results is a work that is my response to the vast and complex landscape around me. " - Morgania E. Moore "For me, the making of art begins with a sense of unbearable lightness. Then, an urgent need to encapsulate an idea, moment, a memory, and reflect it back to the viewer." - Michelle Stitz Vessel Gallery 471 25th Street Oakland, CA T 510 893 8800
