Artist Talk: Adrian Paci
Adrian Paci creates artwork that addresses shifting regimes and cultural flux. He originally trained as a classical painter in his native Albania, but civil war forced him to relocate to Italy in 1997. Since that time, he has been working with video, photography, and sculpture to examine the desolation of displacement and to commemorate both the traditions and the struggles of his country. Paci has exhibited internationally in solo shows and group exhibitions including PS1, MoMA, New York; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; Brussels Art Biennial, and Tate Modern, London. His work is part of public collections including Solomon Guggenheim Foundation, New York; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; and Kunsthaus, Zurich. He is represented by Galleria Artopia, Milan; Galleria Francesca Kaufmann, Milan; Galerie Peter Kilchmann, Zurich; Peter Blum Gallery-Chelsea, New York; and Smith-Stewart, New York. Paci’s work is included in the group exhibition Audience as Subject, Part 1: Medium at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, October 30, 2010–February 6, 2011.
