David Rakoff In conversation with Eli HorowitzPost an Event »

David Rakoff is a humorist, essayist, and author. His two New York Times best-selling books, Fraud, and Don’t Get Too Comfortable, established him as one of our wittiest and most entertaining writers. A contemporary of David Sedaris and Sarah Vowell, Rakoff shares with them an ability to poke fun and criticize while maintaining a human view of society. Rakoff has worked in theater with Amy and David Sedaris in their plays Stitches, Little Frieda Mysteries, The Book of Liz, and the OBIE award-winning One Woman Shoe. His forthcoming book, Half Empty, is a collection of essays ranging from the personal to the universal. From a scathing review of the musical Rent for its cutesy depictions of AIDs, to an essay about being picked on as a young boy, Rakoff’s sharp pen and quick wit have produced a collection that is both touching and laugh-out-loud funny. Rakoff’s writing has appeared in Vogue, Salon, Wired, and many other publications. He is a frequent contributor to Public Radio’s This American Life and The New York Times Magazine. Eli Horowitz is an editor at McSweeney’s and a contributor at The Believer. He is the co-author of Clock Without a Face, a young adult real life treasure-hunting book. His new book is, Everything You Know is Pong: How Mighty Table Tennis Shapes Our World.
