FIFTY24SF Gallery announces the opening for Save My Life, an exhibition that will feature the work of Chicago-based artist, Cody Hudson and Heroes for Ghosts, featuring new work by Austin-based artist, Michael Sieben. The opening will also coincide with the release of Hudson's new, 96-page, color book, also titled, "Save My Life". Centering on the theme of the human condition, this body of work explores the concepts of both eupohoria and impending doom. Cody Hudson is a Chicago-based painter, also known for his commercial art and graphic design contributions under the name, "Struggle Inc." Known for the production of clean, multi-dimensional graphics, Cody's design aesthetic is part urban modernism, and part organic visual deconstruction. His graphic work and paintings have been exhibited throughout the US, Europe and Japan including the Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago), Rocket Gallery (Tokyo), The Reed Space (NYC), The Lazy Dog (Paris), & Bucket Rider Gallery (Chicago). Cody's work has been featured in numerous magazines and publications including idN, Arkitip, Anthem & Juxtapoz. His work can also be seen on random corners of Chicago streets, where he frequently participates in the construction of found object installations. Save My Life will include new paintings on wood panels, framed drawings, and unique sculptural installations that Hudson will create utilizing materials collected in San Francisco in the days preceding his opening. Hudson will also release a group of new screenprints and a group of letterpress posters made using the library of wood and metal type from Indiana letterpress, Tribune Showprint. Michael Sieben lives and works in Austin, Texas where he juggles his time between writing and illustrating articles for Thrasher Magazine, co-owning and operating Okay Mountain Gallery with his fellow mountaineers, and freelancing for numerous clients in the skateboard industry. When not working, Sieben can be found in his backyard riding the mini ramp or hanging out in drainage ditches. Sieben's personal work has been exhibited throughout the United States as well as England, Japan, Australia, and Mexico. Like the Pink Floyd lyric that the exhibition takes its name from, Heroes for Ghosts explores the compromises we make when transitioning from childhood into adulthood. In his signature technique, a blend of children's book illustration and skateboarding graphic design, Sieben has created a series of parables that are familiar and unsettling at the same time. Truer to life, the lessons we learn from Sieben's world are often nonsensical and confusing.
