Kala Artists Talk: Nelleke Beltjens, Andrea Carini and Hadi Tabatabai
Kala’s Fellowship program includes Honorable Mention acknowledgements that grant a one-month residency in our studio to a select group of artists. This past month, Kala has been pleased to host three particularly talented artists who each received an Honorable Mention residency. Awardees Nelleke Beltjens, Andrea Carini and Hadi Tabatabai have recently been working in our studio. We are delighted to host an evening of talks by these distinguished artists on Tuesday, June 17 at 7:00 pm. in the Kala Gallery. Originally from The Netherlands, Nelleke Beltjens received her MFA from the University of California, Davis. Nelleke works primarily in sculpture with a focus on multi-part floor installations that reference minimalist architectonic forms. She is also noted for her labor intensive ink drawings comprised of countless marks that create cloud-like forms. Nelleke is represented by Hosfelt Gallery located in both San Francisco and New York. She is visiting the Bay Area from Bozeman, Montana where she currently lives and work.
