Noël Noir Un-Holiday Party
Is Christmas making you cringe? Has Hanukkah begun to haunt you? Are you already sneaking swigs from that quart of eggnog in the mini-fridge under your desk? Yerba Buena Center for the Arts announces Noël Noir, an “un-holiday” fundraiser benefitting YBCA’s free and low-cost programs and the charities supported by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. For only $25, YBCA’s ironic take on the holidays invites patrons to dance to six musical acts on two stages, experience the “Nunway Noir” drag fashion spectacular, peruse YBCA’s visual arts exhibitions, bask in the bloody gore of occult film screenings and drown their seasonal angst in black glamour. Guests are encouraged to interpret the Noël Noir title through creative attire. Featuring two stages of music from SIX local favorites, co-curated by Noisepop and hosted by notorious drag diva La Monistat! • “Best Hip Hop Group in the Bay” Crown City Rockers • Sonny and the Sunsets, fresh off their tour with Best Coast • Femme fatale songstress Jill Tracy • Folsom Street Fair favorites Ejector • Euro-disco virtuoso H.U.N.X. • San Francisco DJ collective Honey Soundsystem Plus: Nunway Noir—“Project Runway” with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence! Free sinful sweets and treats from TCHO chocolates! Five visual arts exhibitions open late! Queer occult films in the Screening Room by Daniel McKernan! Site-specific un-holiday sculpture! Silent auction items from local businesses and nonprofits—bid your time or money! A mystery midnight movie! Scandalous photo ops! Wine tasting with Stag’s Leap! …And recession-proof drink specials by Diageo and New Belgium Brewing Co. all night! This December, experience the holidays the YBCA way--with tongue firmly planted in cheek and cocktails delicately balanced in hand. See you on the black carpet at Noël Noir!
