Opening Reception October 23, 2010 7-9pm Closing Reception December 4, 2010 7-9pm Wagner explores the Shade, an energetic presence contained in all living things, and the extramundane, something outside or beyond the physical world. The paintings depict instruments that enable sight and plants that have been cut from their roots. She merges the instruments and plants with the Shade to create an imagined reality. The instruments, such as lamps and chandeliers, demonstrate the phenomenon of illumination, as light is the symbol for clarity and sight. The intersecting lines create geometric shapes where color and metallic pigment are added to create depth and a sense of another realm. extramundane. journey of the Shades. exhibits works on paper, paintings, and a site specific installation. Wagner received her MFA from Mills College in Oakland, CA and her BA from Humboldt State University. She lives in Occidental, CA and currently teaches at California College of Arts.
