Market Street Gallery is pleased to present Translucent Matrix a solo exhibition by established artist, Eileen P. Goldenberg, opening January 3, 2011, and running through January 28, 2011. The artist reception will be held on Saturday, January 8th, 2011, from 6 PM - 8 PM.
Translucent Matrix will showcase Eileen P. Goldenberg's Array series, consisting of minimal, grid based paintings.
Meticulously building up as many as 100 layers of colored wax, she creates optical depth that is one of the wonderful qualities of encaustic. Look closely at her paintings to see the delicate translucent layers and razor thin lines.
Some pieces are mostly white, calm and elegant, opening up a place of quiet reflection. Other pieces are bold red, warm orange or bright green, giving a view of the complexity, surface, and emotion in her work.
Goldenberg paints for the pure pleasure of feeling the substance of the encaustic paint and putting her concepts into a visual form. The work is tactile, fluid and satisfyingly organized.
