Eva Hesse

Eva Hesse: Lehrhaus Judaica at BAM/PFA Mini-Course: Studiowork and the Life of Eva Hesse Registration Required! German-born American artist Eva Hesse (1936–1970) played a central role in the radical transformation of sculptural practice in the 1960s. In this course, her escape from Nazi Germany and the Shoah will be examined as potential influences on her work, and we will consider her designation as an early feminist in the art world of the sixties. The course will also explore new insights revealed in the research of exhibition co-curator and Hesse scholar Briony Fer. Course instructor Susanne Strimling has been a specialist in contemporary art for over twenty years and has taught a range of art-focused courses for Lehrhaus Judaica. $30 general/$25 for BAM/PFA members To register, please visit www.lehrhaus.org or call 510-845-6420. Lehrhaus Judaica partners with schools, congregations, and museums throughout the Bay Area to offer extended education opportunities open to all interested adults.
