Pleasure Creature - a night of Poetry and Music Pleasure Creature Info
Marita Siddal is pleased to present Pleasure Creature, an interdisciplinary exhibition that revolves around a manuscript of poetry she finished drafting during her initial months as a resident of CELLspace art collective and San Francisco. The offering on the evening of the 27th - from sunset to eleven - includes a number of paintings, sketches, photographs, performance readings, and original live music that all go hand-in-hand with the manuscript. Wrought from Marita's experience of the U.S. Capital juxtaposed with a cross-country road trip and her subsequent exploration of California, the manuscript offers a survey of intimacy with cities, the American landscape, and romantic prospects. It approaches the concerns of the economic recession, sexuality, feminine self-image, sexual orientation, race, and love in contemporary culture - all the while grasping after notes of freedom, elation, and fulfilling sensual pleasure.
