Deconstruct and Recompose: Ming Tsao and David Moises
Location: Eastwing and Project Space, Building 944 Ticket Info: FREE Admission In art, as in thermodynamics, matter can be neither created nor destroyed. Nonetheless, artists constantly find ways to make the old new. Composer Ming Tsao (AIR ’08) is reinterpreting an unfinished opera by Richard Strauss, the form and presentation of which is informed by video, theater, research into Strauss’ life and music and the influence of Tsao’s own Chinese- American background. Sculptor and media artist David Moises (AIR ’08) repurposes common items such as bicycles and leafblowers to his own ends, making sculptures that levitate, generate electricity or launch into the stratosphere.
