Opening August 1, 6-10pm
This August, Audrey Hodtwalker will be the first of many artists to exhibit at the newly formed mg gallery in Oakland. The gallery is owned by Kari Marboe and Adam Green who met at the California College of the Arts and aim to create a space that shows tight and finely crafted contemporary works. Hodtwalker's ceramic sculptures certainly fit into this category. Her series of chickens reveal and discuss her interest in genetic modification and the use of hormones to produce ideal animal products. The creatures evoke thoughts of how removed humans have become from what they put into their bodies as well as the thought and effort that goes into artificial production of the natural.
