Eric Zener’s new series of oil paintings will be on view at Hespe Gallery beginning April 7th and running through May. Eric Zener's oil paintings are an exploration of the quiet that one feels when immersing oneself in nature. The vast open spaces reflect on the magnitude that surrounds us and the sense of refuge it offers. His work explores the temporal and ephemeral connectivity to something greater than ourselves and the sense of sanctuary we feel in solitude. This series of tree paintings are representative of the transformative and meditative journey the artist has embarked upon. Zener looks at the tangled branches as a sanctum but also a way to expand and explore his medium and his ideas. With these images he has loosened his brush strokes, letting the paint become the branches and metamorphose into the subject. The grandness of the tangled vines are meant to cradle and encompass.
