Life’s Trantric Love TrianglesPost an Event »

Jessica Gromula's "Life's Trantric Love Triangles" is a multi-projection piece that results in a complicated exchange of layered images on a series of transparent screens. She utilizes a remarkable variety of symbolic images to stand for the parties and interests that could engage in a relationship (Indian illustrations of dancers and anatomic diagrams among them, to give an idea). You may not see what you expect to while immersed in the installation. Some of the images she uses are titillating, of course, but many more are not and refer to factors in an encounter outside the standard parameters of "sex". To embellish on this, Gomula states: "I believe our sexual culture deserves dedicated, creative exploration. Not to document the mechanics of sex, but to tease out the ways it makes our heart race, the way it makes us both embarrassed and ecstatic.
