Dr. Brandi Catanese of the UC Berkeley African American Studies and Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies Departments illuminates the relationship between Romare Bearden and renowned playwright August Wilson, who was inspired in two of the ten plays that make up his masterpiece, The Century Cycle, The Piano Lesson and Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, by Bearden’s art. The presentation is accompanied by First Person Singular's Find Your Song: The Blues Arias of August Wilson, a selection of monologues taken from each of the plays in Wilson's Century Cycle. A co-presentation with Pegasus Books.
