Tournesol Award Exhibition Jack Leamy, MYSTERIUM TREMENDUM, 74x74 in., oil on canvas, 2010
Opening Reception Wednesday, July 6, 6PM-8PM
Gallery Open Wednesday - Saturday 12-5pm

Admission FREE Jack Leamy (Tournesol Awardee '10-'11) presents an exhibition of paintings as the culminating project of his Tournesol residency. Leamy is the eighth artist to receive the prestigious award, which provides a Bay Area painter with a year-long residency at Headlands and a cash prize.

Leamy brings an innovative vision to the figurative tradition of painting. Often featuring his wife and young son as protagonists, Leamy's paintings address larger cultural and historical ideas through personally derived imagery and motifs while maintaining the expressionistic and resonant qualities of abstraction. Leamy earned a BFA at Pratt Institute and an MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute, where he received the 2010 Irene Pijoan Memorial Painting Award. He has exhibited works at the Cottage Industry Painting Salon, Mission Cultural Center, Swell Gallery, and elsewhere in San Francisco and nationally.
