Vulcanus 68 is a return to the roots of outlaw electronic music. When there was dirt on the floor and grease on the tapes. When reverbs had springs and a filter took up half the room. Taking their cue from the 60s/70s renegades outside the academic limelight such as Tod Dockstader,Richard Maxfield, Kenneth Gaburo and Basil Kirchin, Vulcanus 68 bring their own dark 21st century vision to the outskirts of electronic composition.

The eurostache group is a project centering around electro-acoustic real-time collaborative experiments in sound. The core ensemble is frequently augmented with guests from the San Francisco Bay Area. Membership is open to anyone as our sonic concept is flexible and allows people from diverse sonic backgrounds to participate.
Our key experimental technique is using unique hand-built and circuit-bent instruments (See SonicNomadic section) in unusual combinations with traditional ones. The instruments are amplified (often with hand-built transducers) and blended with digital effects to produce a raw organic/electronic sound. Musical constructs such as rhythm, scale, and harmony are given lower priority to open-up the sonic landscape to other possibilities. Performances often include visual elements, audience participation, and improvisation, to convey story, mood, or emotion.
