Better Days Ahead
HANG ART presents Better Days Ahead, a solo show of new paintings by Michael Shankman, on display from August 1 through August 31, 2008. A reception for the artist will be held on First Thursday, August 7, 2008 from 6-8pm at 556 Sutter St, San Francisco. Better Days Ahead is a concentrated look at the contradictions inherent in our built environment. Shankman believes these paintings reflect uncertain times and urgent decisions. They depict landscapes in transition and environments being shaped by forces outside the actual frame of the works. The outcome is a mirroring of the priorities, values, and fears of those implicit forces.
